Waldemar is a resort and private girl’s summer camp known nationwide for its commitment to excellence. We are located on the edge of the Edwards Plateau, where the 2000-foot elevation allows an enjoyable climate among the rugged natural beauty of the Texas Hill country. The blue-green waters of the Guadalupe River originate ten miles to the west and flow through the 500 plus acres of Waldemar to the Gulf of Mexico. Waldemar was established in 1926 by Ora Johnson. Her niece, Doris Johnson owned and directed the camp from 1931 until 1979, at which time the present owners, Marsha and Dale Elmore, purchased it. Many of the existing structures were built more than half a century ago and possess much of the unique character that defines Waldemar. From September to May each year, Waldemar operates as an exclusive resort for those seeking a unique wedding experience. We are pleased to share this special place with you, and feel confident that you will enjoy your time with us.
Throughout the last 20 years, we have entertained numerous types of events, including corporate retreats, family weekends, movie productions, and of course… weddings! Weddings are particularly special occasions here on our premises. Waldemar is an ideal setting for those who want to create a unique experience for themselves and their guests. A wedding weekend at Waldemar provides more quality time for family and friends to be together, with far fewer distractions. All of the wedding events, including the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, and bridal luncheons are easily accommodated on our premises, thus removing many of the common logistical problems for hosts and their guests. The ceremony and the meals can be as creative and diverse in style as an imagination would allow. We have various locations both outdoor and indoor, to suit any events’ needs, and we have a comfortable capacity for as many as 150 indoor wedding guests. For larger guest capacity we can accommodate tented events adjacent to the riverfront.
